My speech on the 2nd anniversary of the IRGC’s terrorist attack on Flight PS752
Many years back I heard an expression that - if you have to choose between freedom or justice, you should choose freedom so that you have the freedom to get justice…
So the first question is, do you have freedom?
Can you speak your mind?
Are you afraid to criticize or condemn an organization or policy?
You are not free, and you are not safe, and it’s thanks to the same organization responsible for the attack on flight PS752, with it’s ideology of international religious violence.
So long as the attackers go free, you are not free, and you are not safe…
And I thought to myself what must all this talk of justice and freedom mean to Shahin, or Parisa, who are the people this film is about.
When I look at Shahin or Parisa who have lost their loved ones in what the forensic experts have determined to be an intentional act of violence, in legal terms an act of terrorism and crime against humanity, the first step is for politicians to accept the truth. Truth gives birth to justice. And justice may not lead to Shahin and Parisa’s freedom – for nothing will bring back their loved ones, but it will lead to freedom for the rest of us...
Now I haven’t seen tonight’s film, but I have known the film-maker Joseph Akrami and the producer Sara Akrami for close to 15 years. I have gotten to know Shahin as well. And this is what they are about – truth and justice.
The truth is that the organization calling itself “Islamic Revolution Guards” that attacked flight PS752 is fundamentally and without a doubt an unelected terrorist organization, with a clear track record of international and domestic terrorist acts. The truth is that it is headed by an unelected individual who calls himself the “Supreme Leader” of Iran named Ali Khamenei.
The truth is that there are at least 16 facts and pieces of evidence that prove Khamenei’s attack on PS752 was intentional and therefore a terrorist act and crime against humanity.
The makers of this film demand that the liberal government fulfill its promise to list the Islamic Revolution Guards or IRGC on Canada’s terrorist list.
Along with this is that international arrest warrants be issued against the IRGC leaders…
